I just did a websearch on why Facebook won’t load for me today.

Everything else works, so I don’t know why this little guy can’t, y’know, load.

I feel a little ashamed now about my problem. But coming here makes me feel more like this is a problem everyone faces at some point in their life.

Anywho. Thanks Phil for making this a welcoming and safe place to talk about our issues.

I’m not on Facebook or MySpace. I refused to be. I have actual human friends, where the word “friend” retains its original meaning.

The office where I work, almost everyone is on Facebook. And they Facebook all day long. Not only am I actually working, but they’re Facebooking with each other. There’s people sitting in the same room, doing Facebook with each other. It’s the digital equivalent of monkeys picking insects off each others backs and eating them.

The few MySpace pages I’ve seen looked like where everything on the Internet goes to die. Every one of them was unreadable (literally – the colors were so garish and conflicting that you could not actually make out the words), took multiple minutes to load (over ADSL and company LAN), and had nothing but utter shit. This is the social networking revolution?

You will not ever find me on MySpace or Facebook. Not ever.

Some very good thoughts on the nature of social sites. I hear your point about revealing too much but think that sometimes you almost have to.

When someone is reading your blog you don’t know what one subject it is that will grab their attention. For me it’s normally heartfelt honesty that catches my eye.

I agree it’s nicer to add a touch of mystery but in reality you can’t really play hard to get with the internet world can you? All a reader will do is move onto one of another million blogs.

Keep up the good work. Your blog design is one of the clearest and freshest out there. Can’t believe you were over in the UK, though to be fair I’ve only just got back from Florida. Apologies on behalf of us for the misery’s you encountered when trying to palm off your dodgy currency!!
