Well, speaking on behalf of the "quarter", Homology, Cohomology, etc... have a very very firm connection to their real-life origins through Algebraic Topology. The fact that an Applied Mathematician like you can't see that is entirely your problem, and no reason to mock all us Pure Mathematicians who do.

-Some guy who finished Pure Math and Computer Science top of his entire university class, while doing a Bachelor of Music in parallel.

Euler's identity is a jewel of analysis that is one of the links connecting geometry and algebra. As such, there are many ways to derive and explain it, approaching it from many different angles. For the geometric and algebraic approach both explained succinctly, you will need a bit of experience in calculus and mathematical maturity. Then you should check out the text "Visual Complex Analysis" by Tristham.

Is Euler's identity something you can explain to the masses or will it remain forever beyond my comprehension.

LMAO. Ironically, I just saw that today (Euler's Identity, not the movie clip) in a geometry class I'm taking and jokingly quoted my friend that line.
He accused me of being a nerd, but it seems that he understood the reference...
